Flavor adventures - Departing Daily

We’re heading to Windsor, Vermont this weekend for one of our favorite events of the year – the Harpoon BBQ Festival. We know all about flavor adventures, and trust us, this is one you won’t want to miss.

More than 33 of New England’s best competitive BBQ teams will be competing to be crowned the Grand Champion which earns one lucky team a ticket to the Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue. And if we did the math correctly, that means you get the chance to try more than 33 different types of BBQ over the course of two days. Don’t worry – we’ll have UFO Big Squeeze, UFO Georgia Peach, and UFO White on tap for you to wash it all down. Just don’t forget to grab yourself some napkins… you’ll thank us for that later.

Since this festival can be a lot to take in (where do you even start?!) we’ve compiled some pairings to help you squeeze the most flavor out your festival experience.

When it comes to beer and BBQ, pretty much anything paired together tastes delicious. But if you need a place to start, here are our favorite flavor pairings.

UFO Big Squeeze + Loaded Nachos & Chicken Wings

UFO Big Squeeze is a grapefruit shandy bursting with flavor. Our go-to move is to pair Big Squeeze with the most flavor-packed recipes we can find. Try loaded nachos topped with the works: cheese, corn, peppers, lettuce, jalapeños, and of course – sweet BBQ sauce. You can also cool down with a cold Big Squeeze after taking on a whole plate of spicy BBQ chicken wings.

UFO Georgia Peach + BBQ beef brisket, Tangy Coleslaw & Corn on the Cob

UFO Georgia Peach was first brewed for our friends in Georgia, but we’re happy to now bring this fresh-from-the-tree flavor to all. Georgia knows how to make some mean Southern BBQ, so we’ve paired this easy-drinking and flavorful hefeweizen with our favorite BBQ staples: BBQ beef brisket, tangy coleslaw, and corn on the cob.

UFO White + Grilled Oysters & Dessert

UFO White follows in the tradition of spiced wheat beers that have been brewed in Belgium for well over 100 years. It’s crisp, refreshing and brewed with orange peel and coriander. These beers are known to pair exceptionally well with any type of seafood, fish, shellfish, etc. And we know what you’re thinking, isn’t this a BBQ festival?! But hey, with 33+ vendors, anything goes. There are rumors that last year’s festival had grilled oysters. And if seafood isn’t your fancy, dessert would pair just as well with this light bodied beer. There will be fried dough, fried candy bars, fried cookies, and pretty much anything non-meat related that can be fried, fried. Some desserts will even be made using our beer.

We hope to see you bring these pairings to life at Harpoon BBQ Festival. Learn more here!
